MGC Issues New Industry Letters on Promotions and Tournaments and Preshuffled Card Decks
The Mississippi Gaming Commission has issued new guidance on promotional activity and tournaments and the use of preshuffled decks of cards.
Pursuant to Industry Letter 2011-01, the Commission for the first time has authorized the use of preshuffled decks of cards. The letter describes the standards necessary for the production of the cards and also describes the means by which the cards may be offered for play in Mississippi casinos. Both card manufacturers and casino operators have sought for some time the ability of casinos to use card decks that were preshuffled by the manufacturers of the cards.
The Commission also issued Industry Letter 2011-02 which announces new Commission policy that casino licensees no longer need to submit casino promotions to the Commission prior to engaging in the promotional activity. However, licensees must continue to file tournament rules with the Commission as they have in the past.
